What About Me? Poem by Ima Ryma

What About Me?

Yes, it was a bad hurricane.
The order to evacuate -
I know all about, clear and plain.
But it's my choice as to my fate.
And I chose not to leave my place.
Now that the storm has hit and gone,
Real inconvenience I do face.
For these troubles, I count on
The government to come help me,
But so far there's no rescuing
Nearby as far as I can see.
Somebody should have done something!

I'm a taxpaying citizen,
Forget how stupid I have been.
