What Are We Longing For? Poem by Veeraiyah Subbulakshmi

What Are We Longing For?

What are we looking for, in the world,
Where everyone looks for their prey?
What are we searching for, in the confined hearts,
Where everyone is scared of allowing anyone in?
Where are we walking towards on the New moon day,
When the earth gulps the darkness of eternity?
What are we peeping into the darkened infinite space,
From where the God's particles originate and threaten us?
What is the role of the innocent victims,
in the cold and hot predator's jungles?
What is the role of lifeless predators,
in the jungle full of victims, who are alive?
What is the role something that floats,
when it is carried in a vehicle that can be driven?

sorry for disappointing you with out elaborating the answer. I explain for the first two lines, What are we looking for, in the world, Where everyone looks for their prey? Biologically we are in the highest order of the food chain, ultimately we end up to the lowest form, when we are either cremated or buried, so actually what are we longing for? spiritually everyone of us believe in certain faith and a few of my friends do not believe in anything superior and calling themselves as atheist. We like to spread our religion to others as other do, by doing so what are longing for? Do we have any proof that we are great? Nothing. Politically, economically and psychologically we can explain the concept of selfish nature and nothingness. Thank you RN. It is quite interesting to read your poems.
