What Crazy Means To Me Poem by John Lyday

What Crazy Means To Me

The girl pokes a ring in her nose
and one in her lip,
dresses in black, loses
her boyfriend and calls
herself crazy.

But that’s not it.

Crazy is receiving messages
from your TV,
watching the world explode
then walking your dog
through the carnage,
tying your dog to a Methodist Church
as a offering to the Chinese,
buying a talisman then throwing
it and your cigarettes into the street
as an sacrifice for safety,
meeting a communications genius
at Burger King
and asking him to call
your brother,

connecting with every living soul
and tying your mind to theirs,

you are Jesus Christ,

finding your mother
and your brother
waiting
at your place
with a cop,

placing your seed into a plastic cup
because you think the nurse
needs it
for a messiah breeding program,

finally, pacing the hallways of the hospital
as the Haldol that makes you sane
takes affect.
