What Goes Around Does Come Around... Poem by Kavitha Krishnamurthy

What Goes Around Does Come Around...

There was an old lady stranded on the road
With a flat tyre, struck for an hour or so
With a timid smile and worry on her face
A man passed via, Bryan Anderson was his name

He stopped his car there and said I am here to help
Making her sit on his car, he quickly set on work
Engaged in a little conversation, it was finally done
Though the tyre was changed, his hands were dirty and hurtful

How much do I owe you? She asked Bryan Anderson
Said he, if you wanna pay back, then assist someone in need
They parted their ways and he felt good and happy

She went into a café and ordered for some food
The waitress though eight months pregnant, not letting strain change her attitude
Paying 100 dollars, without collecting the change, the lady left the place
The waitress found a little note with 400 dollars more

“You don’t owe me anything, I have been there too
Somebody once helped me, the way I am helping you
If you really want to pay back, don’t let this chain end with you”

With tears of joy in her eyes, the waitress went home
How had the lady known that this meant very much
For herself and her husband, she thanked her in her heart

With the baby due next month, it was going hard
She knew her husband was worried, as he lay beside
She gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low
Everything is going to be alright, I love you Bryan Anderson
