What I Meant To Say

When you asked me what I wanted
I responded “Whatever makes you happy”
And even though I was being honest
What I meant to say was “to continue trying”
When you told me “this might end”
I reserved all further comments
But what I meant to say was
“Darling, you’re worth it, and I’m willing to continue trying”
