You said
“Hush, hush. Soon you’ll be home”
“I’ve quite smoking.”
“I no longer do drugs.”
“Your daddy’s out of jail.”
“We’ll all be together soon.”

These were the lies you told me
These were the lies I believed
These were the lies that never became true

I won’t say I hate you,
‘Cause that would be a lie.
I won’t say I love you,
‘Cause that would be another lie.
I won’t tell you that you are my hero,
‘Cause that would be yet another lie.

I won’t be like you
I won’t be you
I will tell the truth
I will say what I really mean
