What If Poem by Carla Kitts

What If

what if I saved you?
what would we then do?
if I indeed saved you from being blue
what if I reached up in a hug and pressed my lips to yours, what would you do?
if I kissed you?
would you be surprised? would you be shocked? or would you be angry and would we then be through?
what if I were to say
that I love you and that I don't want you to go away
what would you do? would you leave or stay?
without you I go day to day
what if I were to say that I wish to be the only one,
that I want more, would we be over? would we be done?
I want to love you and I want you to love me
what if I told you made me happy?
What if I am hurting because I can tell you love her?
what if I told you that it's her you prefer
would you tell me it's not true
or would look away and whisper to me the truth that could make us be through
don't get me wrong I'll always love you
but what if I asked you to love me too?
your my best friend
and I pray Dear Lord please don't let this ever end
