What Is A Poem? Poem by Hebert Logerie

What Is A Poem?

Rating: 5.0

A poem is an essay of the heart,
And a verbal testimony of the soul.
A poem is neither too exciting nor too dull;
It is a beautiful form of a divine art.

A poem is the literal autopsy of the heart,
And the verbal testimony of the soul.
A poem is nevertheless a refined doll;
The product of having taken all the pieces apart.

It is also the result of putting everything back together.
It is the arrival and the depart of the sun,
And the surge and the vanishing of the moon.

Often humiliated and ridiculed, this martyr
Does not giving in. It is the unstoppable clock,
And the eternal sword that does not crack.

You have given a beautiful definition to poetry! Poetry is often subjective! As you say..... 'an essay of the heart and a verbal testimony of the soul'! Though a poet often may not get any recognition, he is not ready to give in, for writing of poems is an irresistible urge! Enjoyed reading this poem!
