What Is Broken Can't Be Fixed Poem by Kawake Sipelo Vuke

What Is Broken Can't Be Fixed

Deep down I am broken
Inside I am torn, my soul is wandering
Like those ancient ships in the ocean
these wounds might heal
But I will carry these scares throughout
I could observe from a far distance
that this was going to be a different Christmas
The birth of Jesus with my mother's death
The beginning of a new year without my pillar of strength
I wake up every morning with hope of seeing my mother again
but all that awaits me is pain, disappoint and despair
I might accept this situation but I will never forget my mother
I might have lost her now,
But you will always be present in my thoughts.
if her soul is wandering and homeless:
she must know she still has a home in my heart.

It is true that what is broken can't be fixed
But what is lost can be found
And one day we will find her and live eternally.
