What Makes You Think That? Poem by Jessica Nobubele Frame

What Makes You Think That?

Rating: 5.0

What makes you think you can talk to me like that
Violate my vulnerability
Mock me with your careless tongue and cold stares

What makes you think I am any less human?
Less than woman
Less worthy of dignity and respect

You hypocrite- what makes you think you are any better than me?
Does my pale-skin or flat bottom annoy you?
Does it scream insults or spit in your face?

What makes you think that I am a reflection of the past?
That I chose where I would live
How I would speak or
How I look

Your self-righteousness leaves a bad taste in my mouth
It makes me wonder if there is any rainbow nation
Or if theres any Democracy in our hearts?

What makes you think that I chose you as a friend because of your race,
gender,
ethnicity or culture?

Who gave you the permission to violate my vulnerability
Mock me with your careless tongue and cold stares?

we need more of this honesty from people 'Your self-righteousness leaves a bad taste in my mouth It makes me wonder if there is any rainbow nation Or if theres any Democracy in our hearts? ' that stands out for me! it is sad but true...democracy is a great concept but not one where we have won yet in our hearts love ya Jessie
