What Missing Puzzle Poem by Michelle Sam

What Missing Puzzle

There may be a puzzle missing to your beautiful mind
But you are perfect just as you are and will always be fine
You bring us joy with the odd things that you do
But of course that's OK, because we'll always love you

Everything in your autistic world is zoomed in times three
Most things that pass before your eyes would be difficult for us to see
The things that touch you are more sensitive, and well defined
And the different colors and sounds can wrap you in a bind

When you express yourself you're as honest as anyone can get
The way you see the world is exactly as it is, I bet
I guess I'll never truly grasp what you really feel though
Because most times you keep yourself hidden inside so I'll never know

There may be screams or noises because of your autistic spirit
But it lets me know how you are feeling so I don't mind hearing it
It's truly amazing how you want everyday to be the same way
That's OK because it makes things easy to manage every day

Sometimes you have meltdowns, and may go ballistic
This is not all you are, it's just a part of being autistic
You bring more joy than anything to our mediocre world
That's why you are our precious oyster holding a diamond pearl

Yes, there may be a puzzle missing, and for now no one can find it
But nothings puzzling about you because your mind is brightly lit
We thank God so much for sending you to our world and family
Because without you in it, how in this world would we all be
