What We Have Poem by Chad Shumate

What We Have

What we have you can't find everywhere,
I've been looking for days, months, years I swear.

What we have people may envy us,
Don't hate, it's just honesty, love and trust.

What we have I won't take for granted,
It won't be tilted, sloped or slanted.

What we have is a connection,
Like a bullet to a gun, but God is our protection.

What we have is simply love,
We thought it started on the ground, but had to come from above.

I love what we have.
