When First I... (English Sonnet)

The sun was overhead above her face
shining with all the brightness that it had
cast shadows on her forehead looked like lace
recalling how she sparkled makes me sad

In those days I moved a little quicker
my bat was sure I rarely made an out
her pale blue eyes gave a little flicker
sending a message leaving little doubt

Love and lust reside conjoined by steel stitch
for here before me offered was this one
indeed my beastly urge was dark as pitch
to soil this lovely stranger and be done

the darkness parted I could see the light
that soon would blind me like an endless night
