When I Fall Apart

Where will God be?
When I can no longer do it anymore
When I have lost it completely
Where will God be?
Will God let this most precious me
The only one I have
Go like all the rest
Down into that stinking ground
Or into that dead wall
Like everyone else who has ever been
Even those many times better than me?

It almost happened today
I felt myself falling apart
Somehow it has not happened yet
How soon it will be
I don’t know-

I had better shut up here
And pray to God
No reader
Sympathetic as they might be
Can help me

Only God-

Poem of the Day

poet George Gordon Byron

So we'll go no more a-roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart still be as loving,
And the moon still be as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
