When I Had To Say Goodbye Poem by Tanya Dodds

When I Had To Say Goodbye

Rating: 5.0

We all stood there
Tissues in our hand
Why has this happened?
I don’t understand

Time went so quick
And you got so ill
I’ve always loved you
And always will

The vicar stood in your room
From the book he read a verse
Then we took you back outside
And put you in the hurse

As we drove down in big black cars
Every one we passed stopped to stare
Then we arrived at the church
It was packed in there

I sat up front and sang the hymns
I sang every word
It was the most beautiful sound
I have ever heard

Then we got back in the car
And drove up to the grave
I had a red rose in my hand
That was the gift I gave

I will always love you was played
Before we all said goodbye
You wouldn’t want me to be upset
And believe me I did try

I then went down to have a look
At all your beautiful flowers
I couldn’t read the little tags
It would have taken hours and hours

goodbye grandma miss you.
