When I Was Just A Child Poem by Linda North

When I Was Just A Child

Rating: 4.0

When I was just a child
I looked at life and smiled
The grass was green, the sky was blue
And every day held something new

Summer, winter, spring and fall
How days swept past I try to recall
But seasons change, and people too
Into something different, not something new

I used to dance, I used to sing
My heart was full of joy
Why did I let it slip away
Those days of youth are gone

Friends they come and go
Just like the melting snow
So hold tight to that good friend
Who will be with you till the end

Dreams may tend to slip away
When you are living from day to day
So look ahead, plan and dream
But never forget what the child has seen

I used to dance, I used to sing
My heart was full of joy
Why did I let it slip away
Those days of youth are gone

Dreams may tend to slip away
When you are living from day to day
So look ahead, plan and dream
But never forget what the child has seen

you are so right, one can never forget the jiys and fun when we were kids they eternally cling to our senses and because of them we are childlike in many ways
