When The Sun Sets Glowing Poem by Gert Strydom

When The Sun Sets Glowing

When the sun sets glowing over the western horizon
and the night stretches out her long fingers
then the evening star is already glistening
while the night draws shadows in the late afternoon
and the golden full moon hangs high in the sky
when the ibises do screeching fly to their nests
and many birds can be seen in their flight
while I do wonder about my own conceit,
wonder about where I do fit into this picture
and I am amazed by the red beauty
and then the evening air is already cool,
when I take my darling’s hand in mine
when tranquillity comes over the earth
and it’s as if I can feel the presence of God.
