When The Wind Blows Poem by Eric Mutei

When The Wind Blows

Heartbreaks are like uncharted paths,
Every step feels unsure,
Laced with agony of anticipation,
Like walking on egg shells,
No matter how steady,
No matter how stealthy,
Inevitability punctuated by a break, a sigh, and a tear,

But do we stop traveling,
Do we give up on our travailing?
Do we give up on this voyage?
Walking the uncharted paths
of days not lived yet?

Or do we spit against the winds,
bearing tidings,
and whispers from wherever they blow?
Do we?

No,
We keep walking,
We keep breathing
We keep smiling, ‘
We keep mum,
Even with the break of our bones
and that unsettling fear-
depression, expression,
We keep at it when the wind blows;
through the valleys and hills,
through silent hurts,
diamond absolutes,
and stark silhouettes
