When We Were Children Poem by David Harris

When We Were Children

There are times when our mind
slips back to a world we left behind.
To the days when we were children
and innocent to the horrors of humankind.

To the times when the summers sun
seem to last forever and a day,
when we were children
in that world so far away.

In those days when were not
corrupted by life as we are today.
Those days when beauty
came from the petals of a flowers head.

Those days when we were children
are gone to our memories
for us to lovingly remember
of a world we left behind.
