When Will I Be Right? Poem by Akala Abiodun Tosin

When Will I Be Right?

My heart kept pounding,
Scared of being alone,
It’s high time I faced
reality,
And make decisions for my
self,
Each step I take, I’m always
questioned by the legislators of my heart,
I feel am always wrong in my
doings,
I feel people are always
right in their critics against me,
I feel am not wise enough to
face the reality of life,
My brain and my heart have
known no rest, for they feel have been unfair to them,
Lots of conscience rally
round my psychological body,
And makes me feel pains from
the in-depth of my heart,
Oh ye! My heart, I tender
apologies to you with tears in my eyes,
It wasn’t my fault to be who
I am,
I’m not to be blamed for
overruling your decisions,
I’m just afraid for I did
not know the right choice,
For that childish blood has
always dance round my vein,
Only God knows when I will
be just with my heart,
Only God knows when I will
be right.
When will I be right?
