When You Look At Me Poem by Ayan Dasgupta

When You Look At Me

Rating: 5.0

When you look at me
With those laughing eyes
Seemingly amused at my beguile inanity
I want to look away –
And if I could I even would’ve closed my eyes

Maybe I can but don't instead
Pass into a fish like gaze

And when I stand transfixed at my table
Those defiant words look back to me
From piles of long committed typography
With pitiless jeer they fix their gaze
And moments seem to fly off
They fly close
They fly low
And maybe with a little effort tiptoed
You can even touch them
Feel their breath – the warmth
The blood and sweat
The malicious content
And with a little guilt you can
Even take a bite…

But I think I know
And somehow I know
These moments – yes, like always
These are the moments

They never opened the door for me.
