Where I Am From Poem by Kiona Pearson

Where I Am From

Rating: 3.0

I am from the beach
The summer spent in swimsuits
Evening dips and parties,
Meant only for family.

I am from the back woods
Running like hounds down four-wheeler roads
Dirt trails that lead to the secret place where
We laugh, play, pretend.

I am from caterpillars on the old glass table
From the hummingbirds feeding on sweet water
From chasing bullfrogs in the old ditch
Loosing shoes in the thick red mud.

I am from winter wonderland,
Faces scarcely peeking from coats too thick
Making a snow angel with hand prints in the mold
From the best sledder down that grassy hill of Indiana.

I am from nowhere and everywhere,
Traveling for days, the best moments were always on the road,
From nights spent in the only place open at 3 AM
From the distant cities passed by for back roads and wind surfing.

That's where I'm from.
