'Where I'M From' - George Ella Lyons Poem by Ainin Sofiya

'Where I'M From' - George Ella Lyons

I am from the engines soar in the limitless blue sky
From the city of traffic and the city of lights
I am from the longest war and the drop of my blood
From the optimism and the asset of a smile
I am from the hoops and the top of the key
From the melody of six strings and the eight delicate keys
I am from the scene, beneath the spotlight
From the wild vacant stares and the false judgements
I am from the tears and the sorrow scarred deeply
From the rise and the downfall as a year passed by
I am from a conversation when a trouble peeks in
From a fragment of a past hid within
I am from a spicy potato sambal and sweet cravings
From tight embraces and butterflies fluttering
