Where Is The Maturity Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Where Is The Maturity

What happened to maturity,
Of those who once had it.
Expected to have in positions to lead.
And who is there left with it to prove,
They can be reliable.
Accountable and responsible too.
Many today seem to point their fingers.
Doing this as they rush away.
And these are leaders picked,
To be claimed qualified...
As certified decision makers.
More known to be shown on paper.
Than in reality to identify.

Yet,
With all their bluster and bloated whims...
These are the people who dare to say,
The problems existing in the World today...
Has resulted from actions taken,
By 'them' and 'they'.
But...
Aren't THEY the 'them'?
Pointing their fingers and looking away.
Are they not also among the 'they'?
Turning their heads.
Embedded in denial.

Who are the 'them' and 'they'?
Many accuse and blame nonstop.
As if given approval,
To dismiss what they do.
After displaying a refusal,
Of accepting responsibility.
With a shown childish attitude.
Could it be 'me' as well as 'you'.
Pointing our fingers like children do.
When sitting in positions,
Unwilling to make...
Truthful yet unpopular decisions.

Where is the maturity.
To use.
Instead of blaming others to accuse nonstop.
What has happened to maturity.
And those grown-up to depend upon.
We knew to be thoughtful with wisdom.
Earned through experiencing life.
To obtain and possess common sense too!
Where and what has happened to maturity.
