Where The Sidewalk Ends So Does Renewable Energy

Rating: 5.0

In northern Beverly Hills the sidewalk ends,
and if you wish to take a walk
or jog along the road you’ll find it sends
a message to you like a fork
that lacks a knife. The foot-unfriendly route
is bordered by a cutting edge
where you can’t walk. It seems to say, “Stay out! ”
if you attempt to mount the ledge
above the road, and every wall confirms
this message. Northern Beverly Hills
declares to people they must come to terms
with cars and limousines whose thrills
trump those you may prefer by using feet,
to walk or jog along a road.
Take care, for there are cops you’re sure to meet
if you should break the Highway Code.
Renewable is energy that comes
from walking with a friend. Alas
In northern Beverly Hills they think you’re bums
if you do not instead burn gas.

Inspired by a walk from the 1400 block of Hillcrest Road to a house at 1281 whose owner generously invited Daryl Temkin to give a presentation concerning the 600 companies in Israel that are working on renewable energy.
