Where Were You? Poem by Lora Colon

Where Were You?

Rating: 4.5

At this stage of life I can't help but ask
What was all my suffering for?
When life's tempests claimed their tolls, where were you....
When I gave all, and there was no more?

My poor heart grew weary waiting for love,
A few times impostors appeared,
But as each fragile love died, where were you?
Lost in the darkness? That's what I feared!

My eyes are dead now, they no longer feel,
Enough tears were shed long ago,
As the light in my eyes dimmed, where were you....
When tears flowed like streams of melted snow?

The quivering lips and the faltering heart
Will soon find their eternal rest,
But when life surged through my veins, where were you?
When my life was neither cursed nor blessed!

Now I'm watching November's sun descend,
(I've not been promised December)
And yet, I can't help but ask 'Where are you? '
Please..... give me one night to remember

A lovely poem, Lora, sad though it may be. Where are you? Was this someone you loved and lost, or perhaps the love that you longed for?

My eyes are dead now, they no longer feel, Enough tears were shed long ago, As the light in my eyes dimmed, where were you.... When tears flowed like streams of melted snow? In the name of love and betrayal Delight to read. wonderful choice of words and emotional content is very strong :)
