While You Lay Sleeping Poem by John A. Hancock

While You Lay Sleeping

I watch'd thee while you lay sleeping
In peaceful slumber did'st thou lay
As the moon shines thru your window
Brightly casting luminious shadows along the way
The moon's pale light rest upon thy face
It shimmer'd like an evning star and
Whilst gazing upon this illumination
I am reminded just how lovely you truly are
A kiss to thy lips I'll give to thee
Then softly whisper in your ear
Words my mind has just created
On why I hold your love for me so dear
So sleep my pretty princess
Till the sun it starts to rise
Then together we will celebrate the love
We feel for each other in our lives
