Whispered Poem by Costin Tanasescu

Whispered

God, let us drink some tea
We should keep the voice down, not to stir the sleeping children
Tell me what’s been going on, what have you been up to..
Tell me if you were cross last time when no one was waiting for you at the airport
And you were left standing alone with the announcement in your hand:
‘I am your God’
Come, don’t be alone there amongst the statues of Heruvims
I’d like to tell you, only so we do not feel deserted,
To know each other happy and strong
(have we ever been happy and strong?)
To name our hot bricks

Come God, I took a bite from the apple
And I have no one to tell
