Whispers

Seared into my mind,
burning me down,
lighting me up,
are the memories
of you,
and I,
and us.

The little things
have taken up residence
in the nooks and crannies
of the dustiest parts
of my mind,
and heart,
and soul.

The pit in my stomach
where the butterflies live,
where all of my anxious feelings drop,
is rising
to whisper into the night

I love you
I love you
I love you.

poet Emily Jane Brontë

I am the only being whose doom
No tongue would ask no eye would mourn
I never caused a thought of gloom
A smile of joy since I was born

In secret pleasure - secret tears
