Who Am I? Poem by Felicity Slaughter

Who Am I?

Do you see the real me?
I don't think anyone can,
and I've been striving
to speak up.

I know how to hide.
I rarely show my face.
My core rots with hatred.
Insults are embedded in my soul.

I won't accept your sympathy.
I can tell myself, 'It will be okay',
though I know it's a lie.
