Who Is He? Poem by Mohammad Younus

Who is He?
When I ask that question...
...there is a strong pull on my core;
What is that?
Feeling like that can mean...
...only two things:
He is like me; or
He is unlike me;
Does He know my confusion?
My belief in His omniscience tells me:
He does know my confusion.

I have searched for Him my whole life;
Is He searching for me too?
I look for Him in multitudes...
...in the faces of His creations,
But I come up with the feeling...
...that nothing is like Him;
Though everything is the manifestation...
...of His creative power;
Who I am looking for Him...
...nothing is like or Unlike Him?
Wondering, lost in perplexion!
I can't seem to find...
...my way to His reality;
Everytime I think I've found Him...
...He seems to fade away;
Which face should I look at...
...when no face seems closer to Him?

Who is He?
Who am I?
Who am I to Him?
I have known Him for eternity,
As my origin, and my originator;
Nay, the origin and originator of everything;
His face feels like unveiled!
I see Him in my person;
I see Him in all persons;
I see Him passing by;
Why does He tell me then?
'I am beyond your sight! '
Doesn't He light upon me?
Doesn't He light in me?
Doesn't He light out of me?
It has been for so long!
It will be for so long!
No beginning!
No ending!
Doesn't He come and...
...tweets me all the time:
'Come to me'?
-now He's gone again.
