‘why Am I Poor? ’ Poem by Han Min Ohn

‘why Am I Poor? ’

Once, a poor man leaned against a door
And thought why he was so much poor
‘I work more than anyone else, ’ he muttered
‘So laziness can’t be the reason I am poor.’
‘I never waste my money on unnecessary causes’
‘So extravagance will not be my flaw.’
‘I never drink, do drug or smoke, ’ he thought
‘So these can be excluded form my work.’
And thought and thought the poor man did
But still couldn’t find out how an answer would fit
Finally his head got dizzy and so out aloud he cried
‘Why am I poor! ? Why am I! ’
