Why Care Poem by Susan Wall

Why Care

I knew you for a few short years
and then you walked away.
Not knowing what I did, I asked myself why
did my Mommy go away?
That is something only time will heal
as well as bring a closure, to the forsaken soul.
Now this is why my soul has conditions
how and why my love will be displayed.
You have taken that freedom, to love and to trust.
Time turned this into the enemy of fear
that now lies inside of me.
Don’t act surprised with what I said
the actions you have done is there.
Don’t tell me you care, you had no problem sharing
all the terrible things you did.
Bearing a child does not make you a Mother.
You just only cared about how to justify
what made you feel what was fair.
Why should I care and send my love so freely
to someone who was not there?
