Why Dad Poem by Dan Jensen

Why Dad

You're the reason to my selfbelieve,
You're the reason I'm so scared to achieve,
You're the reason I was always alone,
You're the reason my heart is locked up in a cone.

Was it all meant to be like this, dad,
Was it really worth it? Throwing away all that we had!

My mum cared for you, hell even I did!
Thanks to you I was born! But you used the destruction kit!

I am tired of this, I am tired of that.
Whenever I try to think clearly, I become sad,
Dad.. I miss you a whole lot,
My heart will always have that one empty slot.

My world has never been normal, but when you left, it got even worse!
I wished to the stars that you'd come back, but hell I'd been cursed!

I can't do anything without you,
Why were you not here to pull me through,
This world has treated me as if I was not here,
And all I was ever taught by YOU, was don't shed a tear..

I am finally here, I've come to conflict,
I'm wishing for you to come out, but dad you're a convict,

You're only paying off for what you've done!
If you think you're forgiven once you're out, well you're wrong!

I love you dad.. I can't keep up on the surface like this,
I can't keep my head cold, not through this bliss,

If you ever get out dad, if you ever seek me,
I'll be right here, but don't touch me, my soul is achy..

I hate you!
I love you!
What do you expect me to do?
Let's talk about what I expect from you..

Very touching, but also self-destructive as a father may mirror a son and the other way round
