Why Do He Waste His Time Poem by Francis Duggan

Why Do He Waste His Time

He say there's beauty in South Gippsland's coast
And as beautiful as anywhere he boast
And with his views I most certainly agree
So why do he waste his time convincing me? .

From Lang Warrin to Inverloch and further down
The coast lands green and hardly any brown
Of all the green and fertile land's I've seen
South Gippsland is as arable and green.

Dorothea MacKellar once wrote of her sunburnt country
And her poem lives on in literary history
But she spoke of a land of floods and drought
So she must not have been to Gippsland South.

From Tooradin to Shallow inlet many a mile
But great scenic views make such journey seem worthwhile
The greenery, the highlands by the sea
South Gippsland next to none for scenery.

His proudest boast Australia's greenest shire
Of talking of South Gippsland he can't tire
But since with his views I cannot disagree
Why do he waste his time convincing me
