Why Don'T The Stars



WHY DON’T THE STARS

Why don’t the stars
In all their enormous energy
Need to justify themselves?
And why does any simple living thing but us
Beg no apology for its own being?

Why is it only we
Who know ourselves wrong in the universe
And why only we who must cry out at night
Our need for forgiveness for all
We have and have not done?
