My heart’s been crushed
Too many times
To let this get to me.
But I guess I was just so unprepared
For what you were going to say.
I thought my heart couldn’t take anymore,
But it turns out,
It can.
You can break my heart
And step all over the tiny pieces left,
But the one thing you can’t do
Is take away God’s love for me.
You may have stripped me of everything I’ve had.
You may have humiliated me in front of all my friends.
You may have taken a piece of me I cannot get back,
But the one thing you can’t do
Is take God’s love away from me.
You may not see it,
And my heart may always hurt.
These waters may fall above my head,
But the one thing I know,
Always, for sure,
Is God’s love for me is so much
That even the sins I can’t fathom why I did
Are the same ones He always forgives.
