Why I Cry Poem by Nicholas Acosta

Why I Cry

I cry for me, I cry for you
I cry for those who can't fight for themselves
I cry because of the pain,
This unbearable pain that's incurable,
I walk with a smile spread across my face
But on the inside all I feel is pain,
This pain is mine to hold,
My hands grip it but not to their own accord,
They grab it because these hands, my hands,
Are the only hands that could hold it,
For I know others feel this pain,
But why should I be the only one free of this pain?
Why should anyone be free from the pain I feel?
These are the questions I ask when I cry.
