Why Should I? Poem by Benjamin Anonymous

Why Should I?

Rating: 5.0

Oh why, oh why, should I care?
When hate has had its turn,
And left our world to burn,
At the hands of people like them.

Oh why, oh why, should I smile?
When someone needs it most,
While I was left to roast,
By the hands of people like them.

But now, I see, I can change nations.
I can exceed their expectations.
I can make some innovations.
It's all at the hands of people like me.

Oh why, oh why, should I not care?
Even if people turn to stare,
I can be the one to share.
It's all up to me.

Oh why, oh why, should I not smile?
Even if they are hostile,
I can go the extra mile.
It's all up to me.

I'm kind of a beginner to poetry, so if anyone can tell me what type of poem this is, that would be appreciated! Thanks.
