Why War? Poem by Vishal Kadrekar

Why War?

Rating: 5.0

There you see a person with a dead heart,
Another taking big gasps, trying to live a few more moments, after the bullet injected his body part,
A few more people trying to snatch life, from hands of death,
Many more asking for help, moments cherished, life not lived to the fullest, for they don’t want it to be cut short.

The eyes of the dead see darkness in the light,
Families trying to revive life, though souls have started the journey, after the fight.
The wolf is lurking on the door, women and children to be fed,
Their warm touch does not feel, for its too late for him to be told he is still cared.

The mind’s locked, memories remain,
A broken family, stands with loss in their eyes, they know the memories aren’t easy to wane.

Why war? I’d say, loss, sorrow, on both sides,
A shattered heart, a shattered home, a shattered nation, is war justifiable….
