Will I Die Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Will I Die

As it happens with age

We fail to manage

The invasion of sweet memory with each breathe

That was in early days of youth

I had no option

But to choose one for a relation

Family was dead against the love marriage

So the caste consideration was set on stage

I had lot more to suffer

As no one was ready to offer their daughter

In marriage to a soldier

It made me a little sadder

“You have dangerous life to lead”

I read the danger now and felt dead

Will I die a bachelor?

Oh no! I was not meant to be one.

So the hunt began

The young lady was chosen

“Will you marry me”? Was her first question

“Of course, yes” I chose the word with a specific mention
