Will You Help

Support others, encourage hope
Life’s mountain, help to climb
Teach those who fail through life to cope
Help guide a soul from crime

Nothing should rob us of our crown
No one should keep us low
Nothing should chain God’s servants down
Nor stop Love’s blessed flow

But still so much can stop life’s stream
Obstructions yet remain
Though seeking to fulfil life's dream
We break beneath the strain

By far the tongue’s our greatest foe
The ear’s not far behind
Both can hinder a child to grow
And make the wisest blind

Thirst for silver hunger for gold
Lust for power and fame
Through such; to Satan lives are sold
To end in total shame

But Christ can help a lamb astray
Can free the worst in sin
Can hinder rot, can stop decay
Can help life's crown to win

Christ can turn who’ve disobeyed
Can lift who fall and fail
Can help the least to meet the grade
Can free those chained in jail

We too can help a sinner walk
Backsliders who resist
Can show direction at life’s fork
When Christ our life has kissed…
