Wings Poem by Jael Courtney Wolz Smith

Wings

Wings of a prayer, wings of an angel, carrying the soul on high.
Clipped wings, feathers falling from the sky.
Wings of life, wings of love, carrying the heart across the distance.
Clipped wings, yet nothing falls.
Wings of the heart, wings of the soul, unyielding in my will.
I shall not fall, clipped wings or not.
I shall not bow, I shall break, for I am not of flesh or blood.
I am an ideal, I am an emotion, I am a thought.
I am the will one feels when they open themselves to all possibilities.
That my child is what gives me wings and why they can never be clipped.
