Wings Of Fire, Wings Of Wind Poem by Pedro Cescon

Wings Of Fire, Wings Of Wind

I, barefooted on the sand,
Oh, how I envy you, bird,
No string, bind or strand,
Flying on wind's word,

I gathered your fallen feathers,
And I tied it to my fake wings,
But I can't deal with weathers,
And sun burnt my strings,

I tried to be lighter than air,
And tried to conquer your sky,
But this wasn't for me quite fair,
Wasn't bird at your very eye,

I grew wings heavier than you,
And although I fell so many times,
I stated I did get through,
And was start of my crimes,

I'm so sorry, bird of the wind,
I rained fire over my brothers,
I stole your sky and I sinned,
And I provoked the cry of others,

And I thought I was almighty,
And insisted on wings of fire,
Oh, I see now I was so flighty,
And went out of my desire,

And I went for the stars,
With fiery wings of power,
From moon to mars,
Alone from top of my tower,

I reached unthinked heights,
Far beyond you could achieve,
But things went wrong to my flights,
On this conundrum's eve,

'Cause now I'm barefooted on sand,
And I still am to be envying you,
For I'm still to my land,
And you are flying the blue,

I apologize to you bearing tears,
For the misuse I put to your wings,
For my wings can become my fears,
And yours its good what it brings,

But believe in me, bird of prey,
Someday I'll atone for my sin,
I'll keep my arrogance at bay,
And will make my evil grow thin,

And you'll finally be proud of me,
Because our flights will be twinned,
For my wings will definitely be,
Alike yours... Wings of Wind
