Wings To Freedom Poem by Jay Yoo

Wings To Freedom

The sound of the ball getting caught in the net, SWISH
The sound echoing like Bach's Music peaceful yet strong
The sound is simple but to get the sound is hard
After another day in a grey prison with glass windows
The sound of the net unlocks me from my bind

The beautiful arch passing through the air
An arch more beautiful than any arch
The arch ends in few seconds
But to make the arch it takes few years

Jumping so high touching the net feels like touching the sky
The rim is higher more up in the atmosphere
I want to go up so high and grab the rim
Slamming the sphere of stress in

I release the ball from my fingers
I release the pain and stress
From the chains of my grey prison
My shackles released my wings my wins are free
Swish, swish, swish the ball hits the net again, again and again

Once I have the courage to march back to the grey prison
Stomp, stomp, stomp armies of suits marching in for war
After a bloody gory war once again I go back to my grey prison
Waiting eagerly for another game
