Winter Of Discontent Poem by GEORGE AMADI

Winter Of Discontent

Big Apple like a beer glass gleamed;
snowed-in roads laid froth-brimmed.
Along snaked chained tyres locked,
by sweet carols' sing-along mocked.

Many shoppers, then in twos hiked,
at stores playing the Blues rocked.
Along sang cops grumpy, 'hijacked'
by lyrics of old, soul tunes mocked.

Rain bitter a chilly tail fierce grew,
everywhere a gale sizzling hawked.
Helter-skelter ran couples untrue,
by a foe strong, yet unseen, mocked.

Indeed, what a terrible night, this,
lovers feuding on one candy sucked.
Shattered laid dates, plans, dreams,
by winter of discontent all mocked!
