Wishes Poem by Driss Ezzireg

Wishes

Rating: 5.0

Gone is the year of hypocrisy, deceit and felony.
Gone are the battles for hatred and hegemony.
Gone are the days of death, slaughtering and mayhem.
May we never hear of them, see them, relive them!
Sweet and melodious sounds shall caress our ears,
Soft and peaceful words shall be uttered clear,
In warm and cozy homes shall we soon prosper.
Food as healthy and drink as sultry shall we share.
Amongst us shall live the good and the merciful.
Love and compassion shall cities firmly resurrect
And from ashes, like Sisyphus, they shall stand erect.
Green pastures, long forgotten, shall flourish again.
And orchards with fruits pending shall delight the eyes.
Our children shall play, shout and run wild.
No bombs shall ever terrify or crucify a child.
Mothers, sweet mothers, shall not live in constant fear
Lest they hear terrible news they couldn't bear.
Wishes you may say. Truths I may reply.
For wishes will hardly ever satisfy
Hearts that suffer and souls that cry.
