Wishing Wells And Rainbows Poem by Jim Boone

Wishing Wells And Rainbows

Prayerful human-nature wish-catalyst
As dreams, hopes and prayers
Crowd and contrary the mind

Stretching horizons beyond periphery
Integrating daily thoughts with dialogue
Isolating nightmares with open-eyed frustration
For moments of nervous tremors that do not abide.

There is a grace and an affliction in the hopeful
That can ‘make’ and ‘break’ at pick-yourself-up speed.

It’s never ‘too soon’ or ‘too late’ to begin (or) start over
For students in this hell-on-Earth Master class
As we translate what we hear, what we read and see
Make choices that trip us up or propel us forward
With the balm of a fade-out, fade-in flexibility that
Makes ‘now’ the most important time in this life
For those who are drawn to toss a coin in a fountain
Or wishing-well, catch our breath at the sight
Of a rainbow, toss a prayer and sing:

“If happy little bluebirds fly, beyond the rainbow
why, oh why...” Yeah, okay, yeah! ! !
