With Bad Girls Badinage

With bad girls badinage
can be a lot of fun,
unless, of course, they charge
before they let you run
away. The good ones take
their time, and can’t be bedded
as easily. They fake
their interest, since it’s credit
they offer, not demanding
a payoff until they
have married you, expanding
your credit till the day
you’ve given them the ring
and wedding bells have rung.
That’s when the good girls sting,
and if you’ve not been stung
in badinage with one,
caught with your trousers down
while you were having fun,
you don’t live in my town,
and there must be a bad
girl in your loving life.
I’ve got one, and I’ve had
a great time––she’s my wife.

Inspired by Peggy Lee’s song “I Got it Bad and That Ain’t Good, ” and by Linda.
