With Pleasure Comes Pain Poem by Cassandra Howell

With Pleasure Comes Pain

Ever made that one mistake
That you knew would bring pain
All night you lie awake
While everything comes down in vain

The ones who cared
Are now no longer near
You regret the feelings shared
It all comes back with every tear

Happiness seems so far away
It’s almost too much to bear
It hurts too much to begin to say
And I’m starting not to care

Time is the only cure
But also the cure that I hate
The voices are starting to torture
Saying that death inside is my only fate

If I could only go back
And redo what’s been done
Honesty is what I lack
I’m no longer bright under the sun
